Celebrating Dexter Gordon on what would have been his 94th birthday, the great tenor saxophonist and Academy-Award nominee is remembered and honored. An all-star lineup will play the music from his classic Homecoming and Sophisticated Giant albums (Columbia Records) as well as some of the iconic ballads that made him so unique. Dexter Gordon (1923–1990) is considered the first saxophonist to translate the language of bebop to the tenor saxophone. He was nominated for an Oscar for his leading actor performance in the film Round Midnight in 1986.
