Musician Jumaane Smith celebrates the origins of jump blues and jazz with new renditions of timeless classics by Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, and Louis Jordan, as well as original music he composed just for tonight’s show.

A trumpeter and vocalist from Seattle, Smith trained at the Juilliard School of Music and studied privately with Wynton Marsalis. Over the past 15 years, he has established himself as a top call lead trumpeter with performance and recording credits that include collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, and other notable artists. Smith has performed on five Grammy–winning records, and he’s bringing his talents back to the Barnes for a high-energy evening!
